Is Neat the best in AV over IT Hardware?

Since its founding in 2019, Neat has rapidly ascended to a leadership position in the video conferencing market by fundamentally shifting the focus from complex AV (Audio-Visual) hardware to simplified, IT-friendly solutions. By treating meeting room hardware as an extension of the IT network rather than a series of isolated proprietary components, Neat has addressed long-standing pain points for both end-users and IT administrators.
1. From Proprietary "Boxes" to Distributed Intelligence
Traditionally, professional AV systems relied on centralized, hardware-based "codecs"—monolithic boxes that required complex proprietary cabling to connect various peripherals like cameras and microphones. Neat disrupted this model by introducing a distributed codec architecture.
Shared Intelligence: Instead of one "brain" in a box, intelligence is shared across devices like the Neat Bar and Neat Pad, allowing them to carry their own processing power.
Network-First Design: Devices connect via standard Ethernet, eliminating specialized cabling and making them behave like any other manageable endpoint on an enterprise IT network.
2. Native Partnerships as a Growth Engine
A cornerstone of Neat's leadership is its "built-from-the-ground-up" approach for major collaboration platforms.
Zoom Strategic Partnership: Neat launched in February 2019 with a direct investment from Zoom. Its first products were specifically engineered to provide the ultimate Zoom Rooms experience, which helped the company scale globally in record time.
Microsoft Teams & Google Meet: Recognizing the need for flexibility, Neat expanded to support Microsoft Teams Rooms in 2021 and Google Meet more recently, ensuring its hardware remains the "tech of choice" regardless of an organization's software stack.
3. Solving the "Hybrid Equity" Problem with AI
Neat became a leader by using AI to solve the "meeting equity" issue, where remote participants often feel disconnected from those in the physical room.
Neat Symmetry: This patent-pending feature uses AI to individually frame each person in a meeting room and present them equally up-close on-screen, rather than as a distant group at a long table.
Environmental Intelligence: Features like Neat Sense provide IT teams with real-time data on air quality, CO2 levels, and room occupancy, transforming a simple video bar into a workspace management tool.
4. IT-Centric Management & Scale
For IT departments, Neat shifted AV from a "high-touch" maintenance burden to a "plug-and-play" asset.
Neat Pulse: This management platform allows IT admins to deploy, monitor, and update an entire global fleet of devices remotely, ensuring security and performance without on-site technical assistance.
By late 2024, Neat’s focus on simplicity and innovation had resulted in over 400,000 devices sold to more than 17,000 customers across 75+ countries. Its ability to outpace the market—even during periods of curtailed enterprise spending—solidified its status as a top-tier vendor alongside industry giants like Cisco and Logitech.
